Ten minutes into a flow your palms are damp, and the mat under them turns into an ice rink. You press into downward dog and your hands creep forward. You dry them on your shirt. They slide again, and the rest of the practice goes on managing the surface instead of the breath.
The Rising Sun printed yoga mat deals with that at the top layer. Its microfibre suede face gets tackier as moisture arrives, so the sweat that used to be the problem becomes the thing holding you in place. Under it sits a natural rubber base that stays where you put it. The Rising Sun artwork runs edge to edge across the whole surface, not as a patch in the middle.
What you are getting
- 24 x 72 in (61 x 183 cm) – standard full length, so a tall frame in savasana still has shoulders and heels on the mat rather than the floor.
- 3 mm (0.12 in) thick – thin enough to feel the ground through your feet in balance work, which makes tree pose and warrior III noticeably steadier.
- Microfibre suede top – soft and dry underfoot at the start, grippier once your hands warm up. It also doubles as its own towel, so there is no second layer sliding around on top.
- Natural rubber base – dense and slightly tacky, it holds position on hardwood and tile instead of creeping across the room during lunges.
- Edge-to-edge print – the sun design reaches all four corners, so it reads as one image from the doorway, not a sticker on a black rectangle.

The honest part about a 3 mm mat
Three millimetres is thin. That’s the trade for ground feel, and it cuts both ways. If your practice is full of kneeling, low lunges on bare knees, or long floor work on a hard surface, you’ll want padding this mat doesn’t have. People searching for a printed yoga mat in 6mm are searching for a reason. We don’t make one, so buy a thicker mat or keep a folded blanket by your knees.
Two more things. The suede top is absorbent, not waterproof, so spilled water sits in the fibres until it dries. And natural rubber has a distinct smell for the first few days, plus it’s the wrong pick if latex bothers you.
Who this is for
For sweaty vinyasa, hot rooms, and anyone tired of slipping on a plastic surface. Not for restorative or knee-heavy practice on a hard floor.
Care
Wipe the suede with a damp cloth and mild soap, then air dry flat, print side up. Keep the rubber out of direct sun. Roll it with the suede facing out.
