What a garment dyed sweatshirt actually is

Most sweatshirts are cut from fabric that was dyed on the roll. This one is sewn first in raw cotton, then dropped into dye as a finished piece. You get a softer hand, a slightly uneven depth of colour, and seams that take pigment a touch differently.

Two of them side by side aren’t identical. That’s the process working, not a defect.

The honest part about a 9.5 oz crewneck

This is a warm sweatshirt with no pockets and no hood. If you want somewhere to put your hands, or a layer for a heated studio, buy something lighter. Heavy cotton also dries slowly, so plan around that. Because the colour is laid into the finished garment, expect it to soften a shade or two over the first year of washing; some people buy it specifically for that, some don’t. If you need colour locked at day-one intensity, this isn’t the piece. Relaxed also means relaxed, not oversized, so if you want a boyfriend-length tunic, size up one or two.

Care

Cold wash, inside out, with like colours for the first few washes. Tumble low or hang to dry. Skip the fabric softener — it coats the cotton and dulls the surface you paid for.
